Chicken fried steak is one of the most delicious steaks you will ever eat. We go to restaurants for this delectable steak, but why not just make it in your home? In this tutorial I am going to show you just how easy it is, so you too can enjoy this choice cut.
List of kitchen items needed:
- Large bowl
- Small bowl
- Fork or whisk
- Large plate or platter
- Rolling pin
- Pan and oven or electric pan
List of food items needed:
- Crushed crackers or cracker meal
- Eggs
- Milk
- Cubed steaks
Make sure your cubed steaks are thawed and ready to handle.
Dump cracker meal in your large bowl or put crackers in a bag and roll with a rolling-pin until the crackers are crushed.
Crack about 4 eggs and put them in your small bowl. Beat with a fork or whisk, add a little milk and then beat a little more.

Once your egg batter, cracker meal and cubed steaks are ready, dip your cubed steak into the egg batter.
Then place it into the cracker meal and pound until you have reached the desired thickness and your cubed steak is now looking more like a chicken fried steak.
Place on a plate and repeat the process until all of your steaks have been pounded and coated in cracker meal.
Start warming your pan on the stove top, turning your heat to medium. If you are using an electric pan turn the temperature to 300. Put lard and or butter in the pan.
Once warm, start laying the chicken fried steaks on the pan. Cover and cook until brown, then flip. When both sides are golden brown place on a plate.

If you want to keep the finished steaks warm while you are cooking the rest. Turn your oven on to the lowest temperature and place the plate of finished steaks in the oven.
Make some homemade cream gravy, (post coming) mashed potatoes, corn and serve.
